Screen printing is a technique which involves creating an image on a mesh screen which then has ink pushed through onto a shirt with a rubber squeegee. It offers a hard-wearing print and is most cost effective for larger production runs of 20 units or more, generally with only a few colours in the design.
Also known as DTF printing, this process involves digitally printing in full colour to special film for heat transfer onto a variety of garment types, including cotton, polyester and more. The advantages of this printing are full range colour, spectacular detail, with a soft and durable feel.
This is a good choice for shirts that need individual sports names and numbers, or highly coloured prints on a small number of synthetic garments. The decoration involves digitally printing and/or cutting specialised vinyl, which is then pressed at a high temperature to adhere it to the garments.
Also known as DTG, this is a process that predominantly is applied to cotton based T Shirts and materials. It involves digitally printing directly onto a shirt that has been specially treated to allow the ink to bond with the fabric. The advantage of DTG printing is that it offers very easy one off customise TShirt printing, with multiple colours and photographic resolution.
Embroidery is a very professional looking solution that is particularly good for office uniforms and business polos. It is cost effective option for smaller decoration sizes (i.e. pocket) and is applicable for small or large production runs. Embroidery is a mechanical process comprising individual stitches, so it is important that designs reflect stitch characteristics.
Sublimation is a decoration process that is often used for customised sports wear that require complex or full wrap around graphic design. The process involves heat pressing a digitally printed design onto polyester fabric at the manufacturing stage, before it is sewn together. As such the delivery lead times are generally several weeks longer than other forms of decoration.
